Day 1:  MONTREAL-ROME

Departure from Montreal to Rome

 

Day 2:  ROME

Arrival at Rome Airport.  Private transfer to hotel.  Remainder of day free.  Accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 3:  ROME

Breakfast at hotel. Morning, you will visit the different sights and eras of Rome.  The motor coach will head toward La Via Cavour, and you will see La Piazza Della Repubblica, Esquilino Place, the Art Museum, the Fountain of Trevi (visit), the Pantheon, the largest pagan temple built by Emperor Hadrian, Piazza Navona, the most beautiful baroque area of Rome, with its famous Fountain of Four Rivers, Bernini’s Masterpiece, the Palace of Justice, the Castel Sant’Angelo, The Popes’ Ancient Fortress, Via Della Conciliazione and St. Peter’s Basilica.  Afternoon and evening free.  Accommodation at hotel.

Day 4:  ROME

Breakfast at hotel.  Entire day free in Rome.  Plenty to do & see in Rome, the Via Veneto Café, is the best place to appreciate the scenery and sample a delicious cappuccino.    Rome has an abundance of monuments, museums, fountains, boutiques, antiquities, etc.

Take advantage of this free day to discover on your own.  Accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 5:  ROME-NAPLES-POMPEI-SORRENTO

Continental breakfast at hotel.  This morning, departure from Rome with motor coach taking the auto route “Del Sole” crossing the region of Lazio and Campania seeing a spectacular view of Montecassino.   Upon arrival in NAPLES, you will have a brief visit of the city including Castel Dell’ovo, Margellina, Plebiscite, the Royal Palace, Maschio and the Port.  En route toward POMPEI, you will stop to visit a Coral & Cameo Factory.  You will see the excavations of Pompei, a city destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius Volcano in 79 AD.  After lunch in a local restaurant, you will continue your journey along the coastal panoramic route to Sorrento.  Supper and hotel accommodations in Sorrento.

 

Day 6:  SORRENTO

Day free to relax or to take an optional excursion (supplement paid locally) to the AMALFI COAST where you will be seduced by the picturesque villages of POSITANO & AMALFI, perched on cliffs.  Along your journey, the route offers you unique panoramas and an unimpeded view of the crystal blue sea.  Supper and accommodation in Sorrento.

 

Day 7:  SORRENTO-CAPRI-SORRENTO

Breakfast at hotel.  Transfer to the Port for departure by ferry to Capri.

Arrival in Capri Marina Grande and weather permitting, you will visit the famous Blue Grotto.  Return to Miranda for departure to ANACAPRI.  After lunch in a typical restaurant, the tour will continue to the famous Piazzetta, elegant area in the heart of Capri.  Visit the Augustus Gardens with its breathtaking and panoramic view of the Faraglioni.  Return & accommodations in Rome.

 

Day 8:  ROME-PALERMO

After breakfast, transfer to airport (included) for the destination of PALERMO.  Upon arrival, transfer and check-in at hotel.  Supper and accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 9:  PALERMO/MONREALE

After breakfast at hotel, panoramic motor coach tour of city.  You will visit the impressive Cathedral refurbished many times over the centuries, the Norman Palace, with its Palatine Chapel, jewel of arabo-norman art, in MONREALE, the Dome, uniquely known to the world for its polychrome mosaics and the Cloister of Benedictine Monks.  Return to hotel for lunch, possibility to take an optional excursion to visit Palermo, MONDELLO is an ancient fishing village and today a beach for the Palermitans, the Market and the Capuchin Catacombs.  Return to the hotel for supper and accommodations. 3 meals included.

 

Day 10:  PALERMO-SEGESTE-SELINUNTE-AGRIGENTO

Departure for SEGESTE and visit a 5th century AD Doric Temple in a perfectly preserved state.  Continue on to SELINUNTE.  Visit to the Acropolis and the Eastern Temples.  You will have a fish based lunch at a typical restaurant by the sea.  Departure for AGRIGENTO, the largest Greek city, known for its antiquity, and a guided tour to the famous Valley Temples, etc.  Supper & accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 11:  AGRIGENTO-SIRACUSA

Morning, departure for Piazza Amerina and visit the Roman Villa of Casale built at the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th century.  It is the most remarkable, archeological proof of the existence of Roman Sicily in the Imperial Era, especially for its preserved mosaics.  Lunch on the road.  Brief view of CALTAGIRONE, baroque style city known for its ceramics.    Arrival in SIRACUSA, ancient capital of the Greek culture.  Supper and accommodation at hotel.  3 meals included.

 

Day 12:  SIRACUSA-TAORMINA-OR ARCIREALE DURING THE MONTHS OF JULY & AUGUST

After Breakfast, visit of the archeological site (NEAPOLIS), where you will visit the Greek Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre, an ancient Limestone Quarry, the Ear of Dionysus, etc. Lunch at hotel and departure for CATANIA.  Brief orientation of the city and continue on to  TAORMINA.  Supper and accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 13:  TAORMINA- ETNA-TAORMINA OR ARCIREAL DURING THE MONTHS OF JULY & AUGUST

After breakfast at hotel, excursion to MOUNT ETNA, the highest, active volcano in Europe.  Excursion by motor coach up to 1800 meters, possibility of optional ascent up to 3000 meters, reservations locally.  Lunch in a typical restaurant.  Afternoon, departure for TAORMINA, one of the smallest, picturesque and refined cities in Italy.  Visit to a Roman-Greek Theatre.  After visit, you are free to shop and return to hotel for supper.  Accommodation at hotel.  3 meals included.

 

   Day 14:  TAORMINA-NATURE PARK-CEFALU-PALERMO

After breakfast, departure for PALERMO taking an unusual mountain route that leads to the NATURE PARK OF NEBRODI.    Lunch at a typical restaurant in the middle of the MIRAGLIA FOREST.  Continue on to CEFALU.  A visit of this old city, known by all its splendor in the era of the Normans.  At the end of visit, return to PALERMO.  Supper and accommodations at hotel.  3 meals included.

 

Day 15:  PALERMO

Breakfast at hotel.  Transfer to airport not included.  End of services.
