Day 1:  TUESDAY/ MONTREAL/ROME

Transatlantic flight Montreal/Rome.

Arrival in Rome.  Private transfer to hotel.  Rest of the day free.  Hotel accommodation.

Day 3:  ROME-NAPLES-POMPEI-SORRENTO

Early morning departure for Naples.  Brief panoramic tour of NAPLES before continuing on to POMPEI.  Lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit of the ruins in the roman city, which was destroyed and preserved by the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.  Supper and hotel accommodations in Sorrento.

Day 4:  SORRENTO

Day free to relax or to take an optional excursion (supplement paid locally) to the AMALFI COAST where you will be seduced by the picturesque villages of POSITANO & AMALFI, perched on cliffs.  Along your journey, the route offers you unique panoramas and an unimpeded view of the crystal blue sea.  Supper and accommodation in Sorrento.

Day 5:  SORRENTO-CAPRI-ROME

Morning, crossing on a ferry to the island of CAPRI.  Upon arrival and if weather conditions permitting, an optional excursion to the BLUE GROTTO (supplement paid locally).  Continue on to Anacapri.  Lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit to the AUGUSTUS GARDENS.    At the end of the day, return to Sorrento or Naples by ferry and departure for Rome by motor coach.  Evening arrival at hotel.

Day 6:  ROME

Breakfast at hotel. Morning, you will visit the different sights and eras of Rome.  The motor coach will head toward La Via Cavour, and you will see La Piazza Della Repubblica, Esquilino Place, the Art Museum, the Fountain of Trevi (visit), the Pantheon, the largest pagan temple built by Emperor Hadrian, Piazza Navona, the most beautiful baroque area of Rome, with its famous Fountain of Four Rivers, Bernini’s Masterpiece, the Palace of Justice, the Castel Sant’Angelo, The Popes’ Ancient Fortress, Via Della Conciliazione and St. Peter’s Basilica.  Afternoon and evening free.  Accommodation at hotel.

Day 7:  ROME-SIENA-CHIANTI-FLORENCE

Early morning, departure for SIENA, a magnificent medieval city, famous for the PALIO, popular horseracing track where races take place every year in Italy. Tour of city with local guide.  From that point, departure for the region of CHIANTI where you will stop at a traditional winery to sample some of their delicious wine.  Continue on to FLORENCE for supper at a local restaurant.  Accommodation at hotel.

Day 8:  FLORENCE

Morning, guided tour of the city:  La Piazza de Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, the Baptistery, Giotto’s Campanile, 13^th century Santa Croce Franciscan Church, Arts Academy, where Michelangelo’s statue, the David, is kept.  Remainder of day free for optional excursion to PISA or a visit to the boutiques.  Evening free, accommodation at hotel.

Day 9:  FLOENCE-VERONA-VENICE

Breakfast at hotel, departure for VERONA for a guided tour of the city of “Romeo & Juliette”, as well as the ROMAN ARENAS.  Transfer to your hotel and remainder of day free.  Take a stroll or a ride along the famous canals or narrow alleys to discover the beauty of this unique city.  Supper and accommodation at hotel.

Day 10:  VENICE

Morning, guided tour of the city to see  the Bridge of Sighs, Piazza San Marco, the Palace of Dogi, and ancient prisons.  You will visit a glass blown factory.  Supper and accommodation in Venice.

Day 11:  VENICE-LAKE COMO

Departure for the Great Lakes Region, where you will stay in Lake Como.  Check-in at hotel.  Remainder of day free.  Supper and accommodation.

Day 12:  LAKE COMO-MALPENSA (MILAN AIRPORT)-MONTREAL

After breakfast, transfer to Malpensa, where you will board your return flight to Montreal.  End of services.
